KEPLER REVIEW:
Elvis Costello & Allen Toussaint - The River in Reverse

Who better to sing with anger about Katrina than Elvis Costello? Who better for him to sing with than Allen Toussaint? The River in Reverse flows very smoothly especially considering that over half of these songs are new versions of songs Allen Toussaint wrote years ago. Elvis Costello sings every word with appropriate anger, indignation, and sadness, resulting in a profound protest record that makes Neil Young's Living with War seem absolutely juvenile in comparison. And I quote:

"But the times are passing from illumination
Like bodies falling from a constellation
An uncivil war divides the nation
So erase the tape on that final ape running down creation."

Highlight: "The River in Reverse"
